Mezzanine repair

Occasionally something strong can get broken due to over use, over loading or other reasons. This mezzanine storage area was overloaded and cracked one of the floor joists. The client did not want to tear out the broken support and was hoping we could come up with a low cost solution for the problem. The solution was to build a new support leg and secure the cracked floor joist from underneath the unit. This effectively eliminated the possibility of further failure and actually added a higher load capacity to that particular area of the mezzanine. I added 90 brackets to secure the cracked floor joist and then put a T saddle on top of a 4X6 post connecting the new support to the joists. The electrical conduit was surfaced mounted on the wall so I also had to notch the back of the 4X6 to allow for this. Its not the prettiest fix but its in a warehouse and it was quick and cost effective!
